Company training with EU assistance24 May 2007

Over three-hundred micro and small-size enterprises received funding for employee training within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan from the approximately 2 billion HUF EU funding framework.

Since, due to the huge interest shown and following reconciliation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, the National Development Agency increased the application framework for company training assistance to double its original value, pursuant to which 327 enterprises were approved a total of rate of 1.9 billion HUF assistance for employee training and competitiveness development. Since micro and small-size enterprises have also realised that employee training is the primary means for gaining marketable knowledge and developing competitiveness, the volume of applications submitted in response to the highly successful call for applications exceeded the available framework within a few days of its official announcement. Consequently, instead of approving 100 applications, as originally planned, over three hundred applications were approved assistance within this call for applications that was closed due to the huge volume of applications submitted.

111 approved applications were granted 826 million HUF in the Middle Hungary Region, whilst due to the increased framework, all applicants that submitted formally correct applications in the convergence region were granted assistance. Consequently, the 216 applicants are now able to invest approximately 1.1 billion HUF in employment trainings. Since the potential for granting assistance was unclear in the case of a few applications when these were put through eligibility and formal criteria assessment, a few additional applications are anticipated to be approved in the coming weeks

The objective of the applications is to raise employment by improving labour competitiveness and developing the work skills and competencies of employees. The applications published within the framework of the measure support general and accredited training programmes that develop the adaptability of enterprises by developing the professional skills of their employees.
