Making school sports grounds more attractive from NHDP assistance11 September 2007
The OLLÉ Association established on the basis of the professional cooperation of 5 sports wishes to submit an application under the school renovation call for applications of the New Hungary Development Plan. The organisations committed to the promotion of mass sports launched the OLLÉ School Programme targeting the re-construction of school sports grounds with the support of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.
The OLLÉ School Programme targeting the establishment of sports grounds in public education institutions, construction of sports facilities and organising services built on these was launched on the basis of wide-scope cooperation and civil society involvement. The school renovation programme announced on 4 September within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan supports programme financing, within which framework it is possible to invest 60 000 HUF/student in the rehabilitation and development of sports facilities in the course of school reconstructions. Applications covering 90% of funding needs can be submitted up to 24 September; the results of the first round will be announced in January 2008. Schools operating in the settlements of micro-regions and schools with disadvantaged children enrolled will be prioritised within the framework of the development.
Sándor Scheer, board member of the Hungarian Football Federation and founding member of the OLLÉ Association said that this initiative is not only about football, since 5 other sports have also joined the programme. In addition to football, handball, basketball, water polo and kayak-canoe sports also wish to engage in development initiatives, and will therefore jointly support and promote the programme.
Gordon Bajnai, Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, is the patron of the OLLÉ School Programme, and Erik Bánki, President of the National Sports and Tourism Committee, and Dr László Kiss-Rigó, bishop of Szeged-Csanád are the co-patrons.
