In Hungary, priority national institutes - in addition to a maximum of one hospital per region providing the highest capacity in-patient healthcare services - and medical universities are the peak institutions of healthcare services in terms of progressivity. The vast majority of university medical clinics and currently prioritised peak institutions are organised according to a pavilion system hospital structure and are expensive to maintain; moreover, buildings in these hospitals are over 50 years old on average. The age of the equipment and instruments varies from one institute to another, as well as according to medical field; however, most of these are not adjusted to the requirements of the era.
Universities providing medical and medical science training – except for universities located in the Central Hungary region- and a maximum of one hospital per region providing the highest capacity in-patient healthcare services will be able to request funding from the total available framework of 75 billion HUF.”
