State of affairs in the North Great Plain region29 February 2008

Investments that were launched in the North Great Plain region during the 2004-2006-period within the framework of the first phase of NDP I will be completed by 30 September this year. During this period, 114 applications were approved a total rate of funding of 25 billion HUF within the framework of the Regional Operational Programme.

85 applications were successfully implemented, whilst 29 application are currently still in progress and must be completed by 30 September.

Within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan, the local governments, non-profit organisations, churches, foundations, associations, public benefit companies and social associations operating in the region can apply for creating handicap access, the development of educational institutions, the development of basic healthcare and outpatient services, as well as the development of the social infrastructure that has just been announced.

176 applicants applied for funding of 2.2 billion HUF in value for creating handicap access. The majority of applicants in the region applied for the development of educational institutions and submitted a total of 301 applications requesting funding of 81 billion HUF in value, which is over 6 times more than the available rate of funding equivalent to 12.2 billion HUF.

3 billion HUF is available for the development of basic healthcare and outpatient services, and 1.4 billion HUF is available for social infrastructure development.
