Over 200 EU calls for applications are now available10 March 2008
184 calls for applications ensuring use of EU funding for Hungary were announced in 2007, which has this year increased to well over 200 – announced Minister of Local Government and regional Development Gordon Bajnai at Kiskunhalas on 8 March.
Seventy of the calls for applications announced so far have been closed and assessed – added the Minister. Gordon Bajnai reported that over half of the total rate of funding exceeding three thousand billion Forints in value has been made available within the framework of calls of applications, whilst the other half of the funding has been earmarked for financing individual, so-called major projects.
Therefore, in practical terms, Hungary has been given the green light for using this amount of money – stated the Minister. Finally the Minister emphasised that Hungary ranks first from among the member states that concurrently joined the EU as regards payments made in the case of National Development Plan I, since eighty-seven per cent of the funding that can be used up to the end of 2008 was already paid to applicants during 2007.
