Bicycle route development in the South Great Plain12 March 2008
The first assistance contract of the call for application „Developing the Bicycle Route Network” of the South Great Plain Operational Programme was ceremoniously signed in Orosháza on 11 March 2008.
Tibor Kúsz, Head of the South Great Plain Regional Development Agency (DARFÜ) Implementation Working Group, highlighted that 22 projects were approved funding of 3.1 billion in value out of the 77 applications submitted and applying for a total rate of funding of 8.5 billion HUF. Mr Kúsz also found it important to mention that the Agency was able to constructively cooperate with the experts of the local government during the preparation of the assistance contract, for which special thanks is owed.
The aim of the Local Government of Orosháza – as demonstrated by the title of the project - is to ensure safe transport conditions by implementing its project „Downtown bicycle route in Orosháza – promoting safe transport. The project amounting to a total cost 107 million HUF has been granted 83 million HUF for launching the implementation of the investment. Town mayor Béla Németh emphasised that the town has plenty of development plans. Recently submitted applications include, among others, projects targeting the development of health tourism, as well as roads and primary education institutions. In addition, the town is preparing to submit applications targeting town rehabilitation and the development of community transport.
