Kindergarten – school developments with the help of EU funding in Cegléd16 June 2008

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány attended the official ceremony to mark the handing over of the first investment – the first kindergarten development project - implemented within the framework of NHDP. The Prime Minister and the Mayor József Török officially handed over the new playground equipment set up with the help of EU funding in the kindergarten of the settlement of Ceglédbercel in Pest County.

The investment is a continuation of the kindergarten development model project launched within the framework of NDP I, which the whole country, as well as Ceglédbercel can truly be proud of. Ceglédbercel has submitted a series of applications approved funding: following the approval of two of its applications, the assessment of the third one is currently in progress.

The settlement of Ceglédbércel in Pest County is a recurrent and successful applicant that provides a model to follow for all Hungarian settlements. Having recognised its opportunities and needs and prepared its projects in an expedient and circumspect manner, the applications submitted by Ceglédbércel targeting the development of public education institutions and implemented within the framework of NDP I, as well as NHDP represent model projects in terms of the development of the settlement. Modern extensions and handicap access was built to the Napsugár (Sunshine) Kindergarten that 150 children can now attend within the framework of the model kindergarten development project that was launched with the help of EU funding of 217 million HUF in value within the framework of NDP I.

The kindergarten playground was equipped with the help of EU funding of 10.5 million HUF in value as a continuation of the investment. The way that this is the very first kindergarten development project implemented within the framework of NHDP demonstrates that Ceglédbércel is indeed serious about developments and intends to implement these as quickly as possible.

It is very possible that the development of the primary school of the settlement will be the next phase in the development of public education institutions. The settlement has applied for EU funding of 250 million HUF in value to implement this. The assessment of the application is currently in progress.

During the 2007-2013-period, 120 billion HUF has been earmarked for the development of public education institutions within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan; calls for applications covering half of the available framework were announced during the 2007-2008-period.  Out of this huge volume of funding, the settlements of the Central Hungary Region are eligible to apply for funding of nearly 11.5 billion HUF in value during the 2007-2013-period for the development of public educations institutions.
