NDA once again at the Island Festival in 200813 August 2008
The NDA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is making a second appearance at the Island Festival (Sziget) from 13 August through to 18 August 2008. The organisers welcome visitors to the Island at the World Tent Casino and four other smaller tent venues all day everyday.
This year is all about fun and games; visitors have the opportunity to gain information and test their knowledge of the EU and foreign affairs at each venue. By crossing the same symbolic bridge set up last year as well, visitors arrive at the World Tent Casino where keen volunteers have the opportunity to join in the excitement, gain experiences and receive information and take part in various games, quiz tests and creative problems. Valuable prizes are up for grabs each time the EU roulette wheel is spun. Casino visitors can also play blackjack and other card games or test their knowledge of foreign affairs issues.
NDA issues an open invitation to anyone interested to the 3 forum discussions held throughout the 5-day Festival:
Wednesday 13.08: Environmental Awareness and Transport Day
Friday 15.08: Economic Developments, Research and Development Day
Sunday, 17.08: Human Developments Day
Everyone is welcome to take part in the thematic interactive round table discussions organised from 3.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in collaboration with well-known artists and media celebrities (such as Dr Árpád Juhász, Vujity Tvrtko, Mária Nagy Gór, Barbara Xantus, Győző Szabó, Galamb and Péter Novák) covering topics related to foreign affairs and the horizontal values of the European Union. Russian Roulette Day will focus of environmental threats, international development cooperation and aid will be discussed on Team Games Day, research and development potentials will in the limelight on Open Fund Card Day, whilst Women Hotshots Day will focus on opportunities and ambition in women’s lives. The training of professionals from the dual perspectives of institutions as well as students will be discussed on Pair of Aces – Education and Experience Day.
In addition to the World Tent Casino, everyone is equally welcome to join in the fun and games and take part in interactive and informative programmes at four other smaller tent venues. Visitors are welcome to use the “World of Foreign Affairs and the EU Line” services in any theme that ties in to the EU, such as employment, career opportunities in foreign affairs and the EU, studying, accreditation of degrees, SOLVIT, consumer protection, as well as many other interesting topics. Festival visitors can test their knowledge of their own country, meet the regions, gain insight into the results of various developments and win great prizes by taking part in the drawing and association games at the “World of NHDP” venue. Anyone that visits the “World of Genius” venue will have the opportunity to discover their talents, what they are capable of and find out which career is best suited to their skills and abilities by taking various intelligence and creativity tests with the help of the experts of the Hungarian Genius talent points. This year we have the opportunity to gain insight into the activities undertaken by the non-profit partners of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through a range of exciting programmes organised at the “Non-Profit World of Foreign Affairs” venue.
