Renewal of Junctions in Ajka 6 October 2008
The renewal of Bartók Béla Street in Ajka – specifically the stretch of road bordered by the junction at Gyár Road and Rákóczi Road and the intersection of Ajka-Pula Byroad No. 7309 – has been completed. This particular road section has one of the heaviest traffic flows in the town of Ajka.
Ajka was approved non-reimbursable assistance of more than 180 million HUF in value within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan by submitting a tender in response to the call targeting the development of municipal roads. Mr Tamás Kovács, managing director of the Central Transdanubian Regional Development Agency Public Benefit Company, and Mr Béla Schwartz, mayor of the settlement, signed the assistance contract concluded in connection with this development on 9 April this year. The overall costs of the investment exceeded 258 million HUF and enabled the renewal of a road stretch 1.018 km long in the district of Ajka.

Two junctions, as well as Bartók Béla Street were widened and footpaths and bus pull-ins were built within the framework of the investment; in addition, surface water drainage was also resolved along this stretch during the course of construction works.
The objective of the project implemented with the help of EU funding, among others, involved creating fast and efficient traffic conditions in the municipal area, improving access to regional services and institutions, as well as upgrading passenger safety and comfort by implementing quality improvements and reducing accident hazards and environmental loads in the town situated in Veszprém County.
