Hungary-Romania Cross-border Developments can now get Underway18 October 2008

The National Development Agency and the Romanian Ministry of Development, Public Works and Housing announce a tender call within the framework of the Hungary-Romania Cross-border Cooperation Programme for 2007-2013.

What can funding be granted for? Funding made available within the framework of the present call targets upgrading key conditions required for joint sustainable development in the region of cooperation (transport, communication, nature protection), as well as strengthening social and economic cohesion in the border region (business cooperation, research development and innovation, education, healthcare and cooperation among communities). Mainly activities tying in with preparation (compiling studies, plans) and encouraging cooperation, experience exchange and the establishment of partnerships can be approved funding under the present call within the framework of a one-round periodic tendering model.

Who are eligible to apply?

The following organisations are eligible to apply: non-profit organisations falling under the scope of public or private law, such as, local governments, local government associations, micro-regional associations, institutions managed by these organisations, non-profit organisations (churches, foundations, associations, public bodies and public benefit non-profit organisations), education institutions, chambers etc. From among project partners, at least one Hungarian and one Romanian partner must operate in the area eligible for support.   

How much funding is available? 

Projects will be implemented via the co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Republic of Hungary and Romania. An ERDF resource equivalent to a total of 16 746 954 EUR is available within the framework of the call.

How is it possible to apply?

Applications must be sent via post to the Joint Technical Secretariat (JTS) at the following address: Váti Kht, 1016 Budapest, Gellérthegy u. 30-32. Posting deadline date: 30 January 2009. Applications received after this deadline date will not be accepted. 

JTS will be holding Information Days with the aim of presenting information on the application package on the following dates: 4 November 2008 – in Csongrád County and Timis County; 5 November 2008 – in  Békés County and Arad County; 10 November 2008 - Hajdú-Bihar County and Bihor County and 11 November 2008 - Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County and Satu Mare County.
