Electronic Administration Knowledge Portal with the Help of the EU Funding13 August 2009

Creation of the Electronic Administration Knowledge Portal has commenced – announced Mr Gábor Bódi State Secretary for ICT and e-Government of the Prime Minister’s Office on 12 August. The Electronic Administration Knowledge Portal to be set up is not simply a "portal", as its name may suggest. Beyond the conventional functions of a website, it will equally offer extra interactive and web 2.0 services for users, like, e-learning and e-consultancy to develop the e-administration and e-public services of institutions, in addition to navigation and user-friendly search functions on a multi-dimension expert knowledge map.

One of the outcomes of this e-Administration Knowledge Portal project will be an interactive knowledge database supporting the generation of well-conceptualised inter-operable developments coordinated at a national and international level alike in Hungarian public administration through information presented on the Knowledge Portal collected in a structural and systemised manner, as well as by using the knowledge acquired through the ongoing monitoring of Hungarian and international experiences, trends and strategies.

The objective of the project is to expose and ensure access to technical information and knowledge databases tying in with e-public services currently available at central and local administration institutions. New knowledge and solutions created by projects running under the Electronic Administration Operational Programme (EAOP) and the State Reform Operational Programme (SROP) will be monitored and published and so-called "best practices" implemented in Hungary and other countries will also be presented within the framework of the project.

The Knowledge Portal on the one hand provides information services between specific public administration institutions (G2G: government-to-government); however, it will also be accessible to the general public: access to a wide range of information will be provided for young people opting for a career in public administration and professionals (such as project managers, economic and ICT experts) envisaging to use the knowledge they have acquired in the private sector in the context of public administration in the future. Information will equally be provided for enterprises engaging in the sale of some sort of product or service for central and local public administration institutions.

The Electronic Administration Knowledge Portal costing a total of 145.8 million HUF will be set up through the co-financing of the European Social Fund and the Hungarian Government and the project will be completed in March 2010.
