Micro-regional Clinic to Be Set Up in Gönc 7 October 2009

The construction of similar clinics will begin in 16 settlements nationwide in the next few weeks.

A micro-regional clinic will be constructed in Gönc with the help of EU funding amounting to over 950 million HUF. It will be possible to ensure access to out-patient services by road within 20 minutes for nearly all of the settlements of this micro-region by setting up this new clinic. Concurrently to the development taking place in Gönc, clinics assuming micro-regional healthcare tasks will be set up in a further 15 settlements around the country in the next few weeks with the help of EU funding amounting to a total of 14.3 billion HUF.

The EU call for applications specifically geared towards the construction of maximum 1,500-square-metre clinics was announced back in October 2007 in micro-regions where state-financed medical attendance failed to reach 70 hours a week when the given application was submitted and the total population of the given micro-region exceeds 13,500. As an outcome of this call, the construction of clinics will begin in 16 micro-regions across the country in the next few weeks with the help of EU funding amounting to 14.3 billion HUF. A further 7 micro-regional clinics will be set up as an outcome of the next round of this call by using EU and national funding amounting to a total of 6.54 billion HUF.

The Gönc micro-region is one of the micro-regions where, by implementing this project, a new over 1,400-square-metre healthcare complex will be built in the settlement of Gönc providing out-patient services in a total of 200 hours in the case of special medical services and 120 hours in the case of general medical services. In addition, a 10-bed day care hospital and occupational healthcare centre will also operate in the institution, which will equally provide home care services, alongside assuming regional healthcare development and management tasks, and will also contribute to developing healthcare info-communication in the region.

This clinic centre will be set up in the immediate vicinity of other healthcare services currently operating in the town, such as, general practitioners, the dentistry, pharmacy and the ambulance station, hence complementing these activities. The foundation stone of the institution providing services for over 15,000 residents in the town and its surrounding 23 settlement was laid on 6 October; Dr Mária Vojnik, State Secretary of the Ministry for Health, attended this event.
