Another Project Approved Funding Within the Framework of the National School Renewal Programme26 October 2009

Funding amounting to approximately 104 billion HUF has been made available up to 2011 within the framework of the NHDP National School Renewal Programme, enabling the implementation of 364 projects.

"This ensures the opportunity to renew numerous outdated, run-down kindergarten and school buildings and set up quality educational institutions. The most significant kindergarten and school renewal programme of the past 50 years is being implemented within the framework of NHDP" said Mr István Ujhelyi State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office on 26 October at the venue of an implemented development project. Toalmás Primary School, Kindergarten and Catering was approved funding amounting to a total of 247 million HUF to implement developments.

The renewal and extension of Tóalmás Primary School, Kindergarten and Catering, as well as equipment procurements, were also implemented within the framework of the National School Renewal Programme. These renewed facilities were ceremoniously handed over on 26 October in the presence of Mr István Újhelyi.

Integrated education focusing on equal opportunity is offered to students attending educational institutions in Tóalmás. Special assistance for disadvantaged children and students with special educational needs begins at an early age in kindergarten. Integrated education continues in primary school; consequently, the settlement and the local government provide more opportunities for these children to continue their educational career in institutions offering vocational training or preparing students for the baccalaureate in relation to their companions coming from a non-disadvantaged background.

EU funding amounting to over 247 million HUF provided within the framework of the school renewal programme made it possible to renew and upgrade outdated and rundown school buildings in Tóalmás – said the State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office. As an impact of the developments implemented as a direct outcome of the project, children enrolled in the kindergarten and the primary school will have the opportunity to learn and develop in an environment adjusted to 21st century educational requirements, as well as the development concepts of the micro-region and the settlement. Ensuing sustainable development primarily for kindergarten and school-aged children was the objective of this development.

Among others, a special room used to provide speech therapy sessions for children with special educational needs was set up in the kindergarten, where children have the opportunity to develop by using modern equipment and instruments, hence helping these children to catch up with their peers. For example, as a result of this development, the school also procured 15 computers, which is an essential piece of equipment today for high school studies and, by using appropriate software, also offers a suitable development opportunity for children with special educational needs. Creating a safe occupational environment, as well as providing healthier food for children, are the objectives underlying the development of catering functions.

Outdated and unusable equipment was replaced and missing pieces were purchased within the framework of equipment procurements, which extends to include the procurement of IT and audio-video equipment for foreign language teaching, outdoor playground equipment, bicycle racks, selective waste bins, skill development games, instruments required for gaining insight into the environment and developing movement skills, as well as audio-visual equipment. Partial handicap access proportionate to the size of the project was also created for school and kindergarten buildings within the framework of these developments.
