New Healthcare Centre to Be Set Up in Pest County 2 November 2009

5 modern micro-regional outpatient healthcare centres are to be set up in the near future in the Central Hungary region.

A new healthcare centre will be set up next to the settlement of Abony with the help of EU funding amounting to over 436 million HUF, thanks to which development basic outpatient services will also be provided for settlements situated in the south-eastern region of Pest County. Mr István Ujhelyi, State Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, also attended the foundation stone laying ceremony held on 29 October.

The EU call for applications specifically geared towards the construction of maximum 1,500-square-metre clinics was announced back in October 2007 in micro-regions where state-financed medical attendance failed to reach 70 hours a week when the given application was submitted and the total population of the given micro-region exceeds 13,500. As an outcome of this call, the construction of clinics will begin in 23 micro-regions across the country; the health centre project in Abony, as well as a further 4 projects will be implemented in the Central Hungary region as an outcome of the call for tenders announced in the region.

Modern micro-regional outpatient healthcare centres will be set up within the framework of 28 projects approved funding amounting to a total of 25 billion HUF made available from the New Hungary Development Plan.

A nearly 1,500-square-meter new building will replace outdated and ill-equipped healthcare services currently operating at three various venues within the framework of the project implemented by the Municipality of Abony. The aim of this development is to provide quality, 21st century standard basic outpatient care services in a modern building equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and high-tech medical equipment. The key objective of this project is to provide modern basic outpatient services for settlements in the south-eastern part of Pest County in the immediate vicinity of Abony.

Moreover, objectives equally extend to include improving healthcare services provided for settlements situated in the region and reducing social inequalities. Thanks to these developments, it will become possible to decrease the high operating and maintenance costs of basic healthcare services currently provided at three different venues and general practitioner services provided for adults and children at 8 various venues and save over 4 million HUF paid annually for leasing these premises.
New medical technology equipment and instruments, diagnostics equipment adjusted to professional conditions, medical therapeutic equipment, as well as rehabilitation equipment and furniture will also be procured, an IT system will be set up and equipment will be developed within the framework of this development.
Equal opportunity requirements will also be satisfied in the new building by ensuring full handicap access to this building.

"One of the greatest challenges for healthcare during the 2006-2010 period is to create equal opportunity for accessing medical services, one of the key components of which relates to developing the outpatient clinic network" highlighted the State Secretary in his speech. "EU calls for funding contribute to ensuring access to high standard healthcare services for all patients in every single region."
