Kindergarten and Primary School in Győrújbarát Renewed from EU Funding10 November 2009

The European Union is supporting the renewal and functional extension of the Rákóczi Ferenc II Primary School and Kindergarten in Győrújbarát by providing funding amounting to over 305 million HUF.

The NHDP National School Renewal Programme is the most significant kindergarten and school renewal programme implemented over the past 50 years, within the framework of which outdated buildings in 365 kindergartens and schools will be renewed and extended up to 2011, representing developments amounting to approximately 105 billion HUF in value.

20 kindergarten and school renewal projects will be implemented in Győr-Moson-Sopron County up to 2011 within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan with the help of funding amounting to over 3.7 billion HUF. From among these, the renewed Rákóczi Ferenc II Primary School and Day Care Kindergarten in Győrújbarát was the first institution to be handed over.

The comprehensive objective of the project implemented in Győrújbarát involved creating a 21st century educational environment for kindergarten children and students enrolled in the school, alongside the introduction of modern teaching methods and creating equal opportunity. Its specific objective related to extending the range of equipment used at the multi-purpose kindergarten and primary school institution in Győrújbarát, renewing building infrastructure, increasing the capacity of the institution, ensuring full handicap access for persons with various types of disabilities, upgrading energy efficiency and making the building and the courtyard a safer and healthier place.

Full handicap access has been created to the kindergarten building, its energy efficiency was upgraded and its physical state improved and functionally extended within the framework of renewal work. A gymnasium room, which the institution did not have earlier, was set up in the new building wing as a part of the extension of this building. The school kitchen, which never managed to satisfy requirements, was also transformed within the framework of upgrading work.

Complex handicap access has been created to the school building, its energy efficiency was upgraded and its physical state improved and functionally extended. A modern canteen adjusted to the number of students attending the school and an assembly hall was developed and the number, as well as the size of classrooms was increased.
ICT equipment was also installed in the building within the framework of upgrading work.

Chairs and desks for students, as well as cupboards and lockers required for upgrading and extending the kindergarten and the school were procured within the framework of this project, since the vast majority of school furniture used so far by students was upgraded 10 years back with the help of Swedish and Maltese donations. Games played in the courtyard and sports equipment was also procured to improve facilities and landscaping work was also completed.
