Kölcsey Ferenc Primary School in Törökszentmiklós to Be Renewed10 November 2009

EU funding amounting to 105 billion HUF is available within the framework of the NHDP National School Renewal Programme up to 2011. This funding enables the implementation of 365 projects.

Several outdated and rundown kindergarten and school buildings will be renewed and modern educational institutions will be developed within the framework of this Programme. The NHDP National School Renewal Programme is the most significant kindergarten and school renewal programme implemented over the past 50 years. The National School Renewal Programme is providing funding amounting to nearly 320 million HUF for the renewal of the Kölcsey Ferenc Primary School in Törökszentmiklós.

15 kindergarten and school renewal projects will be implemented in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County up to 2011, for which this Programme is providing funding amounting to 5.3 billion HUF. Construction work is already underway at the site of four projects, one of which is the reconstruction of the Kölcsey Ferenc Primary School in Törökszentmiklós.

Among others, the school building will be upgraded and extended within the framework of the renewal of the primary school in Törökszentmiklós specialising in physical education. In order to be able to create a modern learning environment, the project host is aiming to create an institutional environment, which, on the one hand is suitable for the introduction of complex Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools, whilst on the other hand ensures modern and healthy learning conditions for children.

Beyond the Kölcsey Ferenc Primary School in Törökszentmiklós, the beneficiary also operates a 10-classroom building at another location, which building was once under church ownership. Classrooms envisaged to be returned to the Church will be redeemed, the facade will be re-insulated – in order to reduce maintenance costs – and the existing assembly hall will be reconstructed within the framework of this project. The reconstruction and extension of the assembly hall is important, since this will ensure sufficient community space for the increasing number of students enrolling in the school.

A computer room and foreign language laboratory will be developed to satisfy 21st century standard educational requirements and the existing sports yard will also be renewed. The poor, substandard quality fence will be reconstructed and a playground will be created within the framework of developments implemented outside. Full and complex handicap access will also be created during the course of these developments. Beyond renewing the infrastructure, professional pedagogical work will also be established on new grounds.

Equipment procurements to be implemented within the framework of this project ensure the opportunity to stress the importance of adhering to and leading a healthy lifestyle; moreover, special instruments and equipment needed for teaching and developing students, as well as furniture needed in the new classrooms to be set up will also be procured. Beyond classroom installations, other educational and IT equipment procured within the framework of this development will help the everyday school life of both teachers and students

The number of students enrolled in the institution is expected to increase by 27 over the course of the five years following implementation, for whom this project offers the opportunity of learning in a quality, 21st century standard educational environment.
