New Micro-regional Outpatient Healthcare Centre to Be Set Up in Rétság20 November 2009

The Local Government of Rétság was approved funding amounting to nearly 1 billion HUF for setting up an integrated micro-regional outpatient healthcare centre.

The investment implemented with the help of EU funding will provide quality healthcare services for some 18,000 people. The call itself sets the target that projects should strengthen local level cooperation in micro-regions, which objective is well-demonstrated through the cooperation of 18 local governments in the Rétság micro-region.

The development of healthcare centres ensuring micro-regional tasks has also begun in several other settlements over the past few months. The main objective of these healthcare centres is to ensure access to suitable standard healthcare services for everyone, even in settlements where such services were not available earlier. Funding amounting to 21 billion HUF has been allocated for setting up modern micro-regional outpatient healthcare centres from the funding framework of 453 billion HUF earmarked for healthcare developments over the 2007-2013 period.

The Local Government of Rétság was approved funding amounting to nearly 1 billion HUF for setting up an integrated micro-regional outpatient healthcare centre. A further 17 local governments belonging to the micro-region of Rétság – namely, the local government of Alsópetény, Bánk, Borsosberény, Diósjenő, Felsőpetény, Horpács, Kétbodony, Kisecset, Legénd, Nagyoroszi, Nőtincs, Ősagárd, Pusztaberki, Szendehely, Szente, Tereske and Tolmács - are also participating in this project.

The aim of the local governments integrated in this micro-regional cooperation relates to setting up an outpatient healthcare centre providing basic medical services from the central location of Rétság.  Environment-friendly technologies will be introduced in this new healthcare centre, which institution will be constructed at an optimum location from the perspective of patients on the site of the former barracks easily accessible by public transport as well. Full handicap access will be ensured in the entire area being developed. As an outcome of these developments, infrastructure suitable for providing state-financed outpatient medical services in a total of 200 hours in the case of special medical services and 120 hours in the case of general medical services, complemented by home care services and a 6-bed day care hospital will be set up.

Experts are designing the professional profile of this institution in view of the needs of the population, use habits and changes to active inpatient service capacities. By implementing this project, access to special medical services will significantly improve in the region. 68% of the population of the region will be able to access high standard healthcare services within 20 minutes.

The financial management of the institution is expected to stabilise once patients begin to regularly use the centre. The cost reduction impact of the state-of-the-art infrastructure introduced by making use of the funding granted and revenue generated by leasing premises will help maintain this institution in the long run.
