Development of Two Further Micro-regional Outpatient Healthcare Centres to Get Underway27 November 2009

The infrastructural development of the outpatient healthcare centre in Mezőcsát and Sárvár can get underway within the framework of NHDP. Access to healthcare services will significantly improve and the shortage of medical services will cease in both micro-regions by implementing these projects.

The development of healthcare centres ensuring micro-regional tasks has also begun in several other settlements over the past few months. The main objective of these healthcare centres is to ensure access to suitable standard healthcare services for everyone, even in settlements where such services were not available earlier. Funding amounting to 25 billion HUF has been allocated for setting up modern micro-regional outpatient healthcare centres and over 6 billion HUF has been allocated for developing outpatient services replacing current hospital services from the funding framework of 453 billion HUF earmarked for healthcare developments over the 2007-2013 period.

The healthcare centre operating from the central location of Mezőcsát to be set up through micro-regional cooperation with the help of EU funding amounting to over 900 million HUF will operate with new infrastructure from the centre of the micro-region.
The aim of this infrastructural development relates to ensuring physical access to medical services and balancing regional access to healthcare services. As regards the new medical services to be introduced as an outcome of these developments, the aim relates to ensuring the professional expertise required for preferably treating patients entitled to use these services in the district at a local level.

In the long run, this development is expected to improve the health status of the population, contribute to the competitiveness of the micro-region and help make the operation of the healthcare system cost-efficient. Beyond Mezőcsát, this development will provide modern outpatient medical services for the 17,000 residents of a further 8 settlements, namely,   Ároktő, Gelej, Igrici, Tiszadorogma, Tiszakeszi, Tiszatarján Mezőnagymihály and Hejőpapi.

Services provided at present at the healthcare centre will be re-organised and extended within the framework of the development of the outpatient healthcare centre in Sárvár providing special medical services. This development, which is to be implemented with the help of EU funding amounting to over 750 million HUF, affects over 45,000 residents in 44 settlements. By implementing this project, the population of the micro-region and the medical district will be provided with high standard healthcare services locally. The infrastructure of buildings used currently will be renewed and modern diagnostic services will be introduced. The infrastructure of buildings used currently will be renewed, outpatient services will be available in a single building and modern diagnostic services will be introduced. The healthcare centre renewed in accordance with the above will be capable of providing high standard healthcare services for approximately 40% more patients from 2010.
