Modern Rainwater Drainage System Developed in Makád from EU Funding17 December 2009

A modern rainwater drainage system and outlet lake has been developed in Makád within the framework of NHDP with the help of funding amounting to approximately 135 million HUF, which investment was ceremoniously handed over on 16 December.

The implementation of 101 municipal and outer area drainage projects is currently in progress within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan, for which funding amounting to over 20 billion HUF has been approved.

As an outcome of this project costing a total of nearly 135 million HUF and implemented with the help of EU funding amounting to over 121 million, rainwater drainage in 12 streets located in the low-lying and waterlogged area of the settlement of Makád has been resolved; moreover, a 1.5-2-metre deep drainage lake was created by excavating the 3-hectare lake site designated as the rainwater collection area and developing a natural reed filter area. By implementing this investment, beyond resolving rainwater drainage, the profile of the streets in the settlement also changes and the foundations of a useful future recreation centre increasing the appeal of the settlement have been laid by developing the area surrounding the lake.

As an outcome of the 2007-2008 planning period, the implementation of 101 municipal and outer area drainage projects is currently in progress within the framework of environmental protection development initiatives of the Regional Operational Programme. Funding amounting to a total of over 20.78 billion HUF in value has been approved, whilst the overall value of these investments exceeds 23 billion HUF. 16 settlements in Pest County were approved funding to implement drainage projects; funding amounting to over 5.4 billion HUF has been approved and the total value of these investments amounts to over 6 billion HUF.
