Drawings about What Could Be Achieved Were the EU to Provide Funding 4 January 2010

Some 400 pupils sent in drawings to the competition announced by NDA.

Over the past few weeks, several hundreds of kindergarten and primary school pupils nationwide sent in drawings to the drawing competition announced by the National Development Agency about what they would do in their settlement were the EU to provide funding. Most of these pupils dreamt up stunning playgrounds, more and even more attractive parks, zoos and excursion spots or pretty and well-equipped schools; however, many pupils even thought about their less fortunate companions. NDA will, in the near future, publish the 400 odd drawings entered into the drawing competition in a colour edition, whilst a selection of the best drawings will be featured in the December issue of the information magazine called “On Location” (Helyben Vagyunk) jointly published by NDA and the programme guide Pesti Est (Pest Evening).

A country’s success primarily depends on the creativity, ideas, entrepreneurship and determination of its population. This is especially true as regards the use of development resources made available by the European Union. Hungary is only capable of being successful and achieving lasting results in this domain by making use of the good ideas and initiatives developed by enterprises, local governments and non-profit organisations.

There has been no reason to complain over the past about the ideas and entrepreneurship of applicants, which is well-proven by the high number and high funding demands of applications submitted in response to the various calls announced within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan. Moreover, the long-term outlook is extremely good, as the results of the drawing competition announced in the information magazine called “On Location” (Helyben Vagyunk) jointly published by the National Development Agency and the programme guide Pesti Est (Pest Evening) explicitly demonstrates. It appears that the next generation of successful applicants has been discovered: several hundreds of kindergarten and primary school pupils nationwide made drawings over the past few weeks about what they would do in their settlement were the EU to provide funding. Some of these children would like to open a zoo, whilst others would like to run a cat shelter, develop playgrounds, modern schools and plages or create a cleaner and more attractive environment with the help of EU funding. And naturally some pupils were intent on giving food and clothes to the needy were the EU to provide funding for this…

Some 400 drawings were entered nationwide into the drawing competition up to the closing date of 15 November, and in accordance with NDA’s decision, every kindergarten and primary school pupil that entered this competition will receive a gift package in the near future. The best drawings grouped according to region will be published in the December issue of the magazine called “On Location” (Helyben Vagyunk) and the National Development Agency will publish the drawings received in a colour edition.
