Construction of the Infocentre in Zalaegerszeg Underway13 January 2010

Having closed two calls for applications (SIOP 1.3.1/1 and 1.3.1/2) announced within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan, higher education developments amounting to a total of 55.5 billion HUF will be implemented in 13 institutions.

The newest wing accommodating the Finance and Accounting Faculty of the Budapest Business School at its campus in Zalaegerszeg costing a total of 622 million HUF to complete will be constructed with the help of EU funding amounting to 597 million HUF.

The foundation stone of the Infocentre in Zalaegerszeg was laid on 13 January. By implementing this investment, a new 1,513-square-metre, three-storey facility with handicap access, using geothermal energy and satisfying requirements of today’s modern era will be added to the institution with the highest number of enrolled students in Zala County.  

This three-storey building, will, among others, house a faculty library, an infocommunication laboratory used for practical education, as well as several research and seminar rooms and will also be used as a venue for hosting major conferences and events. 

These modern educational conditions will contribute to increasing the institution’s appeal and will make it easier for young recent graduates with competitive knowledge to find jobs in the labour market.

So far, 1,265 applications have been granted funding in Zala County as an outcome of calls announced within the framework of the first National Development Plan and the New Hungary Development Plan. The County has been granted EU funding amounting to almost a total of 110 billion HUF.
