Another Project Handed Over within the Framework of the National School Renewal Programme20 January 2010

The complex renewal of Ady Endre Primary School in Pesterzsébet (20th District of Budapest) was implemented with the help of EU funding.

Funding amounting to 105 billion HUF has been made available up to 2011 within the framework of the NHDP National School Renewal Programme, enabling the implementation of 365 projects. This ensures the opportunity to renew numerous outdated, run-down kindergarten and school buildings and set up quality educational institutions. The most significant kindergarten and school renewal programme of the past 50 years is being implemented within the framework of NHDP. The European Union has contributed over 246 million HUF towards the renewal of the primary school in Pesterzsébet.

The operation of the school is ensured on the long run through the renewal of the primary school building, whilst facilities worthy of the 21st century and conditions underpinning integrated education have been established thanks to the equipment acquisitions. By ensuring handicap access, a higher number of handicapped children or children with other disabilities will be able to enrol in the school.

The decisive part of this project involved renewing the building; however, facilities were also developed in close collaboration with the former, which activities were nevertheless built on one another. The aim of this project equally extended to include the integration of children experiencing multiple disadvantages and children with special education needs by implementing an equipment development programme ensuring the most diverse means possible for developing abilities.

Conditions underpinning key requirements for modern education, such as, modern computer training, effective foreign language education, the introduction of a visual media communication syllabus, extending the scope of drama education or drug prevention education, were established within the framework of this development.
