Human Infrastructure Developments in the Central Transdanubian Region19 February 2010

Having just signed a series of assistance contracts within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan, further human infrastructure developments can get underway in Veszprém County with the help of EU funding amounting to 1.7 billion HUF, as well as in Fejér County and Komárom-Esztergom County by investing EU funding amounting to 600 million HUF.

Nine applicants approved funding in Veszprém County, three in Fejér County and five in Komárom-Esztergom County have just been awarded an official certificate.

The scheme „Infrastructural development in the field of public education” was the most popular scheme, since 237 applicants applying for funding amounting to nearly 53 billion HUF submitted applications in response to the two calls announced. 11 applicants were approved funding in Fejér County and Komárom-Esztergom County respectively, whilst 15 applicants were approved funding in Veszprém County within the framework of these two calls.

The three applicants approved funding in Veszprém County – i.e., the municipalities of Pápa, Veszprém and Várpalota – within the framework of the call “„Developing and increasing the capacity of institutions providing crèche services” were granted 239 million HUF; the two applicants approved funding in Fejér County - i.e., the municipality of Sárszentmihály and the Csemete (Nursery) Foundation in Székesfehervár Székesfehérvár – were granted 110 million HUF, whilst four crèches in Komárom-Esztergom County were granted 243 million for developing their respective institution or even establishing up a new one. 

The municipality of Balatonfüred and the Saint Stephen Valley Multi-purpose Micro-regional Association in Martonvásár were approved funding within the framework of the call „Improving access to basic and child welfare services and the complex or regional-level development of the quality of these services.

So far 18 calls for applications have been announced in the Central Transdanubian region in the human infrastructure priority area within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan. A total of 557 applications were submitted applying for funding exceeding 51 billion HUF in value in response to calls aimed at developing public education institutions, upgrading healthcare services, modernising social services and creating handicap access. 62 assistance contracts have been concluded for ensuring handicap access to public institutions; healthcare institutions will be modernised in 32 locations and investments aimed at upgrading social services may commence with the signing of 23 assistance contracts; in addition, 39 public education development projects can also get underway in the region. The total value of the 156 projects approved funding exceeds 14 billion HUF.
