Development of Emergency Care Services in Veszprém to Commence 7 April 2010

The development of emergency care services at Csolnoky Ferenc County Hospital in Veszprém will be carried out within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan with the help of EU funding amounting to nearly 440 million HUF.

Emergency care units in 26 hospitals around the country will evolve into European-standard modern medical centres by summer 2011 thanks to funding granted by the EU.

The Csolnoky Ferenc County Hospital in Veszprém is a key central hospital. The emergency care unit at this hospital provides SO2-level (Emergency Care2) emergency care services and admits patients seeking emergency care around the clock. More than 231,000 residents live in the medical district of this unit. Moreover, this emergency care unit basically provides services for the entire population of Veszprém County, alongside ensuring emergency care services for the high number of visitors residing in the region during the tourist season.

The aim of this project costing around 490 million HUF to complete relates to raising the standard of the emergency care unit by carrying out a series of infrastructural developments and equipment procurements. Developing the professional standard of emergency care services with the aim of improving the efficiency and quality of services provided is what is at the heart of these developments. Reducing the population’s time spent in ill health and restoring the health of a higher number of patients is also an important objective.

Infrastructural developments will take place; a single gate entry system will be fully set up, integrated emergency care and medical duty services will be created and a dispatch system will be introduced to improve the quality of services and working conditions. Moreover, equipment will also be renewed; diagnostic, therapeutic and other equipment, as well as ambulance vehicles will be procured and portable helipad lighting will be installed within the framework of this project.
