Development of Emergency Care Services at Kenézy Hospital in Debrecen to Commence 9 April 2010

The development of the emergency care unit at Kenézy Hospital in Debrecen will be carried out within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan with the help of EU funding amounting to nearly 460 million HUF.

Emergency care units in 26 hospitals around the country will evolve into European-standard modern medical centres by summer 2011 thanks to funding granted by the EU.

The most important aim of this project costing more than 521 million HUF to complete relates to setting up a single window system for emergency care services in Hajdú-Bihar County at the emergency care unit of the Kenézy Hospital Clinic. As an outcome of these developments, an emergency care unit satisfying the infrastructural and professional requirements underlying environmental and healthcare sustainability and a modern medical system will be created.

Spaces inside the building will be transformed and renewed, which will be accompanied by the introduction of handicapped facilities in the sanitation system rationalising energy consumption. Medical equipment will also be upgraded and human resources will be developed by setting up a training system within the hospital to develop emergency care-related professional knowledge and expertise.

In overall terms, modern, integrated emergency care services operating on the basis of a professionally standardised system and centres and the optimal division of tasks will be created to increase the efficiency and quality of services provided. Moreover, equal access to services, as well as the feeling of safety and life chances of the population will also be improved. The premature mortality rate in the economically active population in Hajdú-Bihar County is expected to drop by 2% by setting up good quality conditions in emergency care.
