Yet Another Project Carried Out Within the Framework of the National School Renewal Programme22 April 2010

Renewal and extension of the kindergarten of Tótvázsony and Hidegkút has been carried out from EU funding.

Funding amounting to 105 billion HUF has been made available up to 2011 within the framework of the NHDP National School Renewal Programme, enabling the implementation of 365 projects. This ensures the opportunity to renew numerous outdated, run-down kindergarten and school buildings and set up quality educational institutions. The most significant kindergarten and school renewal programme of the past 50 years is being implemented within the framework of NHDP. The EU contributed 60 million HUF towards the renewal and extension of the kindergarten of Tótvázsony and Hidegkút.

On account of the higher number of children attending the institution, group rooms became too small at the kindergarten of Tótvázsony and Hidegkút and the quality of the building was also substandard. Doors and windows were not insulated; shutters and floorboards were worn out and rooms were concurrently used for several functions. The need to open a crèche was brought up over the past few years, which the results of the survey conducted among parents equally justified. The reason for this is that families need the income of both parents and mothers would like to return to work before their child reaches the age of 3.

The investment that has just been handed over resolves these problems and suitably caters for the needs of children attending the kindergarten jointly operated by the settlements of Tótvázsony and Hidegkút. A sufficient number of quality group rooms have been created, alongside a gymnastics room, salt room, sick room, activity rooms, isolation room and other rooms. The courtyard has been renewed; handicap facilities are now available; furniture and equipment has been procured and crèche services are now offered in these two settlements. This ensures the modern infrastructural background for education provided at this institution, the opportunity to apply modern teaching methods and prepare the smooth school adjustment of children.

This development creates a competency development-oriented educational environment for children enrolled in this institution where handicap facilities are now also available, alongside a modern working environment for teachers providing education.
