14 Billion HUF for Renewing Primary Education Institutions22 April 2010

Working conditions will improve in 173 crèches, kindergartens and social and child welfare institutions around the country thanks to funding amounting to 14 billion HUF granted by the European Union.

The call announced within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan helped renew the Child Welfare and Family Service Centre in Szigethalom and its Environs by awarding funding amounting to 50 million HUF at a funding intensity of 82%.

Thanks to the complex range of developments carried out in this settlement of Pest County, the institution will from now on be able to provide services adjusted to the demands of clients in a modern environment equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructures. The building accommodating the Child Welfare and Family Service Centre in Szigethalom and its Environs was extended, renewed and adjusted to the services provided at the centre within the framework of this project, which developments were accompanied by the procurement of new equipment.

The building’s floor space was doubled during the course of construction work, as an outcome of which the centre will be able to provide new services, which are in part needed due to the higher number of people visiting this centre, whilst on the other hand because of how there is a higher demand for these services. A fully transformed building with a renewed courtyard and modern sports equipment is now available for families and young persons. Special attention was paid to implementing energy-saving solutions during the course of construction work, which, on the one hand reduce maintenance costs and on the other hand also contribute to promoting sustainable development.

The range of new programmes offered in this renewed environment contributes to eliminating the disadvantaged situation and risks to which people in need are exposed; moreover, this project equally supports the mental and emotional development of children.
