Development of Public Education Institutions in the Public Education Micro-region of Sellye and Vajszló11 May 2010

Funding amounting to 105 billion HUF has been made available up to 2011 within the framework of the NHDP National School Renewal Programme, enabling the implementation of 365 projects. This ensures the opportunity to renew numerous outdated, run-down kindergarten and school buildings and set up quality educational institutions. The most significant kindergarten and school renewal programme of the past 50 years is being implemented within the framework of NHDP. EU funding amounting to nearly 1 billion HUF has been made available to develop public education institutions in the public education micro-region of Sellye and Vajszló.

The aim is to create an energy-efficient and modern public education institutional system in the public education micro-region based in Sellye to be able to provide quality and modern education creating opportunities for students. By upgrading the state of the buildings, establishing suitable technological conditions, ensuring facilities inside these buildings for disabled people and supplementing missing functions, the aim relates to further improving the standard of educational activities. The content and infrastructural development that has just begun will create 21st century conditions underpinning quality education.

As an outcome of this project to be implemented from EU funding amounting to over 500 million HUF, a public education network with disabled facilities and adapted to host ICT will be created in this micro-region. Infrastructural, as well as professional conditions will improve for developing students with special educational needs and disadvantaged students. These developments will establish a basis for the pedagogical and methodological reforms needed. Segregation-free educational practice will be established in one of the most disadvantaged micro-regions in the country. A healthy, modern educational environment will evolve, which helps further develop the quality of education, as well as the quality of the work of teachers in the long run.

The aim of the project to be implemented in Vajszló relates to establishing the infrastructural conditions underpinning individual development and integrated education and setting up a public education system managed at a micro-regional level, however efficiently and effectively organised on a micro-regional basis. As an outcome of this project that has just been launched and is to be implemented from EU funding amounting to nearly 430 million HUF, an energy-efficient and modern public education institution will be created to ensure quality, modern and competence-based education creating opportunities for students. Thanks to these developments, 32 classrooms will be renewed and equipped with disabled facilities.

By concentrating tasks at a single venue, upgrading the state of buildings, establishing technological conditions, ensuring facilities inside the buildings for disabled people and supplementing missing functions, the standard of educational activities will significantly improve. By building spaces to be developed for students with special educational needs, equal opportunity in education will also be ensured.
