Plage in Csopak Renewed from EU Funding27 May 2010

The Local Government of the Municipality of Csopak was granted non-reimbursable EU funding amounting to nearly 46 million HUF under the call “Raising the tourism appeal of the Lake Balaton region” announced within the framework of the Central Transdanubian Operation Programme of NHDP for implementing the project bearing the title “Intelligent Plage”. This investment, which cost a total of 150 million HUF to complete, has just been ceremoniously handed over.

The plage in Csopak was completely renewed within the framework of this project, as an outcome of which numerous innovative and modern elements were added to the services offered at the plage (Internet info points, Wi-Fi network, lap-top and mobile phone locker and mobile phone charge points, as well as a meteorological station), whilst playgrounds were uniquely renewed and now conform to set standards and requirements. The entire area of the plage is now neat and attractive thanks to the landscaping work carried out and having created a promenade. After demolishing the old building, the changing cabins and the toilet and shower block were moved into a new building constructed in a style that blends in with the traditional architecture characteristic of this region.

By implementing this project, the plage in Csopak may evolve into one of the exemplary areas of 21st century bathing culture in the Lake Balaton region, since the services it offers are adjusted to society’s changing recreational demands; moreover, persons with disabilities are now able to use the plage, since disabled facilities are now fully available. Tactile paving helping to guide blind persons, as well as a rest area with disabled facilities were constructed along the new promenade as a part of the renewal work; in addition, lighting was installed, sun decks were set up and plage furniture was placed along the plage. Unique ornamental lamp posts were set up along the waterfront promenade, on which security cameras have been fitted to protect guests.

Having handed over the renewed plage in Csopak, the summer season has begun in settlements situated along the shores of Lake Balaton; this modern recreational area welcomes outdoor enthusiasts every day of the week.
