33 Winning Projects in West Transdanubia27 September 2010

33 projects were awarded grants totalling nearly 6 billion HUF between July and September in nine application schemes under the West Pannon Operational Programme. Of the latest winners, nine projects are aimed at economic development, seven at tourism, two at urban development, and ten at municipal roads. The total project cost exceeds 8.8 billion HUF.

EU grants were awarded to nine projects in the schemes “Industrial Site Development” and “Construction, Extension and Development of Incubator Houses with Service Development”. The first scheme includes the development of two industrial sites, and the second covers the construction and/or extension of seven incubator houses. The projects were awarded 1 billion HUF in total, and their total cost is in excess of 1.6 billion HUF.

Seven tourism projects received grants worth 2 billion HUF in three application schemes. 1.2 billion HUF of that was awarded to the priority project FUTURA, which will help utilise an old grain store in the Moson region for tourism. Grants worth 500 million HUF were divided among four projects aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of the Balaton region, and two bidders shared 278 million HUF for the development of commercial accommodation.

The first round of the scheme “Renewal of Central Areas with Functional Extension in Towns without County Status” produced two winners: the towns of Kapuvár and Szentgotthárd were awarded 528 million HUF and 345 million HUF, respectively. The total cost of the two projects is 1.1 billion HUF.
The municipal government of Sopron was awarded 315 million HUF for the development of local and regional public transport under the West Pannon Operational Programme.

Four projects aimed at re-cultivation, i.e. elimination of rubbish tips and landscape restoration, were recently given grants worth 355 million HUF. The total project cost is 394 million HUF.

Winners were also selected in the application scheme “Municipal Road Development”. Local authorities in 10 communities will share grants totalling nearly 1.3 billion HUF. Grants will cover 75 percent of project costs in Csorna, Fertőszentmiklós, Győr, Körmend, Nyúl, Sárvár, Sopron, Surd, Vép and Zalaegerszeg.
