Ginkgo Sas Hotel Opened in Hódmezővásárhely19 August 2010

The Ginkgo Sas hotel has been opened in Hódmezővásárhely with the help of an EU grant of over 377 million HUF in the framework of the South Great Plain Operational Programme. The total budget of the investment was over 1.2 billion HUF.

For decades Hódmezővásárhely lacked a high quality hotel. The key factor to the area’s tourism development is the construction of a hotel. Without suitable accommodation there is no quality tourism attraction, and without tourism attraction there is no chance for increased tourism. Although the hotel itself is not a spa hotel, it is close to the local thermal bath and many visitors of the thermal baths are expected to stay at this hotel.

The Ginkgo Sas Hotel located in the centre of Hódmezővásárhely is a modern, 21st century two-wing building. It blends well with the attractive architectural environment dating from the turn of the last century. Thanks to the EU support, a new four-star hotel has been opened.

The air-conditioned hotel has 90 rooms, most of them double rooms (some can have extra beds providing accommodation for two adults and two children, and some rooms can also be joined together with connecting doors); a number of rooms are accessible for disabled guests.

There is a conference room, equipped with modern technology, which can seat 150, but can also be separated into three rooms. The hotel has a fitness area, and there is an underground garage with 50 parking spaces.

The project created 22 new jobs in the micro-region; all of the employees received initial training.

The development contributes to the optimisation of tourism capacities and to the increase of the number of tourists visiting the region and Hódmezővásárhely itself, as well as the number of guest nights. It improves the competitiveness and the tourism potential of the region and the town, and promotes the utilisation of the leisure industry.
