This year’s Civil Auction services now available25 October 2011
Greener household programme, health agency, mentor programme, fair-business rating, voluntary trainings and programmes, family days – these are just some of the services offered by civil organisations up for bid on 17 November 2011 in the context of the sustainability auction called “Civil Auction”. The aim of the event, taking place for the fourth time this year, is to foster cooperation between the for-profit and non-profit sectors.
The results of the Civil Auction tender have been announced, revealing the list of 15 civil groups allowed to offer their services for bid in the Civil Auction sustainability auction. ‘Although the services of the civil groups will be sold at auction, the event is not about charity’, said Gyöngyvér Kiss, one of the organisers. ‘The goal is to show the market and business opportunities in the for-profit and non-profit sectors to both parties, making them potential business partners’, she added.
Civil groups could submit applications relating to social and environmental projects, e.g. the development of family-friendly work policies, health protection, environmental protection, reinforcing women’s positions on the labour market, helping the disadvantaged or any other area that can lead to the resolution of such problems within a company, or help develop corporate culture, making employees more open and improving cooperation.
The organisers consider it truly remarkable that the Civil Auction not only links the corporate and civil sector, but involves state organisations as well. The NDA has been a professional partner of the Civil Auction initiative since 2008, and Deputy Prime Minister Tibor Navracsics agreed to be the chief patron of the programme.
‘Besides financial growth, company development must also mean improvement in the areas of CSR and internal corporate culture, helping Hungary to catch up with Europe’s leading group’, said Zoltán Petykó, President of the NDA. ‘The foundations of today’s economic structure are obviously shaking, so the strictly profit-oriented model will sooner or later be replaced by an economic paradigm which is based on solidarity, responsibility and values. It is our common task to support this, and the Civil Auction is a remarkable contribution’, he added.
This year, the organisation of the Civil Auction is also assisted by corporate partners, including OTP Bank as the main sponsor. ‘OTP Bank is happy to support this unique initiative in Hungary. The Bank, as a responsible company, deems it an obligation to support civil initiatives, besides culture and sports’, said Péter Zoltán Nagy, OTP Bank’s marketing manager. ‘Bidding is also an opportunity for companies to become familiar with the civil sector, and thus it facilitates better cooperation. Over the past years, OTP Bank has established long-term and successful cooperation with several civil groups, gaining valuable knowledge. We learned a lot about perseverance, understanding and responsibility. I trust that the auction will lead others to similar cooperation as well, he added.
The event is open to companies
The organisers of Civil Auction are expecting companies eager to know more about interesting and valuable civil programmes, and are open to concluding deals with civil groups which present competitive benefits to both parties, contributing to a sustainable society and environment in the long run. Participation in the Civil Auction is free for companies, subject to registration at tamogato@civillicit.hu, info@civillicit.hu or at phone number 061-2403803.
