A new block is being extended to the clinical centre of the University of Szeged18 June 2012

Zsuzsa Németh, Minister of National Development, laid the foundation stone of the new clinical block of the University of Szeged on 15 May 2012.

Two projects are implemented within the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan at the Clinical Centre of the University of Szeged. Connected to the existing 410-bed New Clinic, a new facility is being built that will provide an additional 265 beds - at the same time, parts of the existing 410-bed building are being renovated and modernised. Furthermore, the emergency services department of the university will be developed into a modern, 19-bed department that can provide services in essence to the whole professional spectrum, thus establishing the prerequisites for a one-gate emergency service in the whole region.

Zsuzsa Németh, Minister of National Development, participated as a guest of honour in the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the facility, as well as Miklós Szócska, Secretary of State for Health at the Ministry of National Resources, who also gave a speech: “The developments at the county capital of Csongrád and at several other locations in the country prove that the health care system is improving in Hungary”. The HUF 12.3 billion project of the Albert Szent-Györgyi Clinical Centre of the University of Szeged is to be completed by the end of 2013.
