The Ministry of National Development’s Call for Applications on Solar Collectors was a Success19 June 2012

The applications received for the New Széchenyi Plan’s sub-programme Green Investment System on building solar collector systems cover the available HUF 2.97 billion budget. The Ministry of National Development closed the construction in accordance with the extended deadline of 15 May 2012. A total of 5 686 applications were received for the call, out of which more than 2 300 were successful. The evaluation of the remaining applications is in progress.

The call, which was financed by the incomes generated by selling the international carbon dioxide quota, encouraged the use of renewable energy sources and provided opportunities for applicants to improve energy efficiency. According to the National Energy Strategy, the reduction of the carbon dioxide emission and energy efficiency can be achieved – amongst other means – by using solar energy. The reception of the new construction proved that the Government’s National Action Plan on Using Renewable Energy meets the needs of potential applicants.

The application deadline ended at midnight on 15 May 2012, thus the Ministry of National Development closed the construction and ceased to accept applications. The applications received after the deadline will be automatically rejected without any further evaluation.

The construction initiated by the department in charge will facilitate the reduction of energy bills of households and will lower their energy consumption. The program will provide opportunities for small local companies working in the sector. The developments assisted by the application process will contribute to accomplishing the obligations undertaken by Hungary in the field of climate protection.
