The First New Plant in Devecser after the Red Mud Catastrophe19 June 2012

“The renewal of Hungary is happening here, right in front of our eyes: not a promise, not an utopic vision, but the visible, tangible reality that can be experienced by everyone”, said Ágnes Molnár, Secretary of State in charge of coordinating development policy of the Ministry of National Development, during the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the new surface treatment plant of Villkász Ltd. in Devecser on 23 May 2012.

The Hungarian-owned Villkász Ltd. is the first company to establish a new plant in the industrial district of Devecser after the red mud catastrophe last year. The investment is expected to be completed by September and it will provide corrosion protection for car parts using submerging technology. In the first round, the new plant will provide jobs for 30 people, but its extension is being planned already.

According to Ágnes Molnár, this investment, which is financed by the funds of the New Széchenyi Plan, is very close to the heart of every Hungarian. “More than one and half years after the catastrophe, the development of the Villkász Ltd. shows what we can do with the unprecedented solidarity and collaboration of the Hungarian people”, pointed out the Secretary of State, who believes that the project will bring the possibility of prosperity to the settlements that suffered so much.

The Villkász Electrical, Open Wire and Cable Installation Ltd. Received HUF 97 million in assistance to its more than HUF 350 million investment in Devecser. During the ceremony of laying the foundation stone, Ágnes Molnár stated that more than HUF 40 billion is available within the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan for supporting technology developments in micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. Just within the Central Transdanubian Region alone, an additional amount exceeding HUF 9 billion is available for regional economic development during the period 2011-2013.
