Renewed pavilion, a more economic operation in the hospital of Tatabánya19 June 2012
The complete renovation of the so-called Manual building of the St. Borbála Hospital of Tatabánya started on 5 June 2012 with the aim of making the building more energy efficient. Approximately HUF 470 million, that is 60% of the HUF 780 million worth development, is financed by the New Széchenyi Plan.
The pavilion, which was built during the 1980’s using system-building technology, has not been renovated since its opening. As part of the new development, the windows of the building will be replaced, the climate systems of the central operating theatre and the intensive care section will be modernised, and the outside facade of the building will be insulated, amongst other developments.
These investments in energy efficiency will not only increase the quality of the service provided, they will also significantly reduce the running cost of the institution by reducing its energy consumption. The funds released by the reduced running cost can be spent on increasing the quality of the service – emphasised Pál Völner, Secretary of State for Infrastructure, during the project’s opening ceremony.
Under the construction of the New Széchenyi Plan, which supports property renovations aiming to increase energy efficiency through the use of renewable energy, so far 54 projects have received HUF 5.5 billion in assistance. Besides the hospital development at Tatabánya, energy efficiency-related renovations of the buildings of the Győr and Debrecen universities are in progress – he added.
The largest health care institute of the Komárom-Esztergom County is increasing patient care via a number of investments. In the framework of infrastructural developments, a 5600 m2 new area is being built and approximately 4600 m2 is being renovated. These new possibilities, combined with optimal organisation, will increase the efficiency of inpatient and outpatient care, the burden on the patients will be reduced and the time required for providing the service will be shorter.
Tatabánya has a long history of successfully using the development opportunities provided by the EU. Out of the 319 projects of the county capital, two thirds have been completed already. More than HUF 27 billion in assistance has been granted to increase the quality of life and opportunities of the inhabitants of the region. Besides the hospital development, the New Széchenyi Plan supports the reconstruction of the Fő square, the reconstruction of the city centre and the construction of the new public road - public transport transfer centre as well.
