Professional workshop held by the National Development Agency in Debrecen 3 July 2012
Approaching the end of the seven-year European Union development cycle the National Development Agency (NDA) carried out several accelerating measures in the application system, presently providing stranded beneficiaries with practical assistance. At the Debrecen stage of a series of professional workshops including seven locations seminars were held for the state, municipality and non-profit spheres, and the project owners of the economic sphere of the North Great Plain Region on opportunities aimed at promoting developments.
A mere one and a half year is left from the European Union development cycle and over HUF 5,000 billion waits to be drawn down for Hungarian projects. That is why already in 2011 the management of NDA recommended significant changes in the application system, initiated more efficiency for the regulatory environment and focused its activity on the acceleration of payments and the management of stopped applications. „The most frequent problems hindering the drawdown of European Union support result from the late arrival of payment claims or the formal errors of applications. In the course of the professional workshop events proposals for the solution of similar problems are given in order to receive as many invoices as possible in the system”, emphasised Zoltán Petykó, President of the National Development Agency.
„27,000 projects have been implemented nationwide since 2006, of which over 6,500 served the purpose of improving the competitiveness of the North Great Plain Region. During this period over HUF 1,036 billion worth European Union resources flowed in the region. Currently several constructions are still available within the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan: HUF 6.75 billion is available for the development of tourism attractions under the call for application open until 31 August 2012. The development of industrial parks, incubator houses and industrial sites can be implemented by HUF 5 billion support for which applications may be submitted by 13 August 2012", said Attila Tóth, Deputy Chairman of the Hajdú-Bihar County General Meeting
„In the past one and a half years the government supported over 2,000 projects in the approximate value of HUF 134 billion in the region, of which HUF 1.6 billion was used for tourism developments and HUF 27 billion for transport development. In addition, within the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan, around HUF 35 billion worth development resources were available for the enterprises of the region”, emphasised the Deputy Chairman of the General Meeting.
Large developments such as the development of the Debrecen Health Centre belonging to the Debrecen University, the establishment of a water reservoir at Hany-Tiszasüly to reduce flood levels or the establishment of the micro-regional outpatient centre in Baktalórántháza are implemented in the region by European Union resources. All the supported projects contribute to the development of the region and the improvement of the population’s quality of life.
