Swiss approval on further four development projects targeting flood-protection infrastructure17 July 2012
The Swiss donor approved four applications in the second call for Prevention and Management of Natural Disasters, the Second Focus Area of the Swiss-Hungarian Cooperation Programme. The projects together receive a contribution of more than CHF 6 million, HUF 1,44 billion on current rate.
Applications with a minimum grant size of 1.000.000 CHF could have been submitted until 20 May 2011 in the areas of investments in order to prevent natural disasters, and capacity enhancement for authorities in charge of flood prevention. As a result of the successful projects, investments can start in the cities of Miskolc, Bánhorváti and Lázbérc, while flood readiness can be strengthened with the help of mobile dams in the Upper-Tisza region.
The evaluation and selection of projects was a two-loop procedure. After the evaluation of the five project proposals in the first loop, the Swiss reviewers made their decision on the 6th October 2011. The four applicants that were selected to further elaborate their plans for the second loop prepared their Final Project Proposals. After the Hungarian and Swiss professional evaluations Switzerland approved all four projects, and informed them about the further conditions of the conclusion of the agreement in their Decision Letter dated 16 May 2012.
After all the applicants accepted these conditions, and had the possibility to discuss the issues with the colleagues of the Swiss and Hungarian authorities on the Information Day on 18 June 2012, they prepared all the declarations and updated documents necessary for the contribution agreement. The Swiss party and the National Development Agency being the National Coordination Unit signed the Project Agreements on 10 July 2012. The project implementations start in the third quarter of 2012, for which we wish a lot of success.
