Focus area 4

A grant up to 8,17 million Swiss francs shall be available for projects falling within the priority area:

ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES, BIODIVERSITY AND NATURE PROTECTION

The general aim of the projects supported within this priority area is the contribution to the environmentally sound development by raising public awareness of Natura 2000 species and habitats, and preparing for their long-term monitoring.

Projects of a minimum value of 1 million CHF could be supported if they aimed at achieving the following objectives:
A. Promotion of protected natural assets by awareness campaigns
B. Pilot projects and Studies for the preservation of Natura 2000 species and habitats

1st loop: The call for proposals was published by the National Development Agency in May 2010, the extended deadline for submission of Project Outlines was 15 October 2010.
2nd loop:  The call for proposals was open from 27 April 2011 until 2 September 2011. The six successful applicants invited to the 2nd loop further elaborated their plans and prepared their Final Project Proposals containing more details and background materials.

Switzerland approved all six projects in February 2012. The projects receive a total contribution of more than CHF 8 million, approximately HUF 2 billion.
