The New Széchenyi Plan supports the outplacement of new funds in the amount of HUF 41 billion22 November 2012
The NDA announced the result of the New Széchenyi Venture Capital Programme call for applications; ten venture capital fund may start operation this year. The HUF 41 billion may provide help to innovative micro, small and medium sized enterprises.
The lack of capital is the most intense in the early stages of the operation at the small and medium-sized enterprises, and as these enterprises are the least creditworthy, it is necessary to provide them with a venture capital type of assistance.
The objective of the - New Széchenyi Venture Capital Programmes Seed and Growth Fund - sub-programs financed by the European Regional Development Fund is to improve the capital position of the innovative micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in their early (seed and start-up) and expansion stages of operation, in the 6 convergence regions.
In the summer of 2012 a total of 33 applications arrived to the NDA from 21 enterprises for the call for applications which was issued with a financial framework of HUF 28.5 billion. 8 applications arrived for the Seed program, 15 for the funds set up with HUF 3 billion EU co-financing within the growth sub-program, while 10 applications arrived for the funds set up with HUF 4.5 billion EU co-financing. The call for applications specifies that the fund management associations must get at least 30% of the funds from private contribution, and that’s how the HUF 41 billion overall amount is made up.
After the formal assessment and content examination of the applications the applying fund management companies verbally explained the merits of the business ideas they planned to undertake. The National Development Governmental Committee discussed the information on the evaluation of the applications and accepted it with approval.
