In one year, touristic investments implemented or enhanced with EU and state funds were visited 6,894,721 times on average – said Dr. Áron Márk Lenner, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry for National Economy on Thursday, in Pécs. The inaugurated composition called "Musicians of Pécs" draws the attention to the results of the touristic development achieved in the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan with an aesthetic approach, and to the giant number of visits, which is due to the investments that made Hungary more attractive.

"The 6,894,721 visits have brought renewal into the life of many settlements, as touristic attractions increase the number of guest nights spent in the region, and the need for other services also increases. We can meet with these developments every day when we visit a museum, a wildlife park, or any kind of tourist attraction"- said Dr. Aron Mark Lenner Dr,  Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry for National Economy in Pécs.

To date, 159 touristic developments were completed, in a total value of almost HUF 77 billion. The investments include 32 spas, 2 adventure parks and 125 different tourist attractions and services. The key goal with the development of tourist attractions is to increase the number of visitors and overnight stays, and to create high quality national tourism.

At the event Peter Csizi, deputy mayor of Pécs emphasized: "nearly 4900 applications were deemed worthy of support in the South-Transdanubian region in the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan, in the value of nearly HUF 428 billion. In Baranya County the number of the supported investments is about 2200, with funds of more than HUF 200 billion. Only for touristic developments alone HUF 15 billion funds flowed into the South Transdanubian region, with which 25 developments were successfully implemented in the region. "

About the installation Nándor Csepreghy, the communication manager of the National Development Agency (NDA) said: "We would like to speak to the citizens in a humorous and simple manner on the third station of the NDA’s giant number campaign in Pécs. The success of domestic tourism is symbolized with three emblematic animals: the Hungarian grey cattle, the Puli and the rooster." He added: "Our common goal is that with the development of tourism we create services which will bring about unique competitive advantage, high quality and high attendance as a result."
