New grant scheme for inventors for the patenting of their inventions 6 December 2012

A grant scheme was launched in the framework of the "Kutatási és Technológiai Innovációs Alap" (Research and Technology Innovation Fund) with the title "Assistance to the industrial property rights protection of Hungarian intellectual creations both in Hungary and abroad". The objective of the facility is to support the activities carried out for the domestic and international protection of industrial property rights. By the invitation of the New Széchenyi Plan a maximum amount of HUF 600 thousand or 2 million can be won for patenting inventions, among others.

As a result of the activities supported in the grant scheme an increase is expected in the number of the submitted domestic and foreign industrial property applications and the granted property rights, which will promote the success of the utilization of Hungarian intellectual creations.

The invitation was launched with an overall amount of HUF 200 million. In the case of domestic industrial property activities a grant of maximum HUF 600 thousand, while in the case of applications in connection with foreign property rights protection and maintenance a grant of maximum HUF 2 million may be awarded.

Applications may be submitted from 10th December 2012 until the funding has been exhausted, but no later than 30th June 2013.

To the invitation natural persons residing in Hungary, micro, small and medium-sized businesses, government agencies, and non-profit organizations may apply.

The applications will be evaluated with a simplified procedure, and – as a new element – assistance may also be granted for the pre-preparation costs of patents.
