Record amounts of EU funds paid out in the first half of 2013 5 August 2013

In the first half of 2013 the EU institutional system managed to disburse to applicants more funds than ever before: the total amount of support paid out by the end of June exceeded HUF 630 billion.

In the first half of 2013 the National Development Agency (NDA) managed to disburse to applicants more funds than ever before: the total amount of support paid out this year by the end of June already exceeded HUF 630 billion.

The amount paid out within 6 months nearly equals the development plan budget of the first year following Hungary’s accession to the EU, for the implementation and payment of which more than five years – the period between 2004 and 2009 - were provided.

The amount of funds paid out in the period between 2007 and 2013 is nearly HUF 4,000 billion, of which HUF 3,000 was paid out by the NDA after the second half of 2010. Therefore, it can be clearly concluded that the EU institutional system is performing better.

At the same time in certain areas, such as environmental protection, healthcare, the reconstruction of main roads and the development of public administration further efforts are required to be made in order to make up for the backlog.
