Road section linking the Southern and Eastern sections of the M0 Ring Road handed over 7 October 2013
As of September 2013 in the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan safer and more comfortable travel is ensured on Hungary’s most important transit road, which is not only a highly important transport section for metropolitan and suburban residents, but also serves significant international freight traffic.
Following the completion of the extension since the middle of September on the section between the M7 and M5 motorways the road has had three lanes for both directions with emergency lanes on each side. This has enhanced road safety to a high degree and reduced risks of congestions, which is great help for drivers as every day nearly 25 thousand vehicles pass through each lane of the Southern section of the M0 Ring Road, the motorway with the second highest traffic volume in the region.
Public road developments are to be continued in Hungary in 2014 as well; on the 2.7 km section linking the M1 and the M6-M7 motorways, which were handed over last summer, the two lanes into each direction also need to be extended in order to ensure the road safety for drivers.
