140 projects and more than HUF 16 billion EU funding provided in the framework of the Hungary-Croatia Cross-border Co-operation Programme 7 October 2013

The Hungary-Croatia Cross-border Co-operation Programme will hold a conference on 20th September 2013 in Vukovar on the European Cooperation Day. In the framework of the Programme for the period between 2007 and 2013 HUF 16 billion EU funding is provided for development projects implemented jointly by Hungary and Croatia. This year is special for the programme since our partner country was granted full membership in the European Union as of 1st July. In order to celebrate this the institutions implementing the programme decided to hold a grand Annual Event / Accession Ceremony to commemorate Croatia’s successful accession to the EU and the European Cooperation Day.

A representative of each of the 140 projects will participate in the conference hosted by Vukovar in Croatia this year. The political representation will be provided by Jakša Puljiz Deputy Minister and Agnés Monfert, Head of Department for the Directorate-General for Regional Policy and will deliver the opening speeches and presentations. The present and future stakeholders of the programme implementing institutional system will report on the results and outlook of the 2007-2013 and the 2014-2020 programming period. Last, but not least the local achievements will be presented at the event by Željko Sabo, the Mayor of Vukovar, which has played an important role in cross-border- co-operation programmes, and Božo Galić, the Bailiff of Vukovar-Szerem County.

The European Cooperation Day will be organized for the second time across Europe in the week of 21 September 2013. On the official website (www.ecday.eu) of the initiative established by the INTERACT Programme and implemented with the support of the European Commission 30 countries have indicated their intention to participate in cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation programmes and now hundreds of events are indicated on the interactive map of Europe drawn up by the initiative.
